The 2010 Fireball Leinsters were supported by thirty crews, four of which were representing Howth Yacht Club. On-the-water proceedings were managed by David Lovegrove and his typically efficient team who got five races in over the weekend.

The competitors were met with bright and windy conditions on Saturday, which made for exciting screaming reaches and some tasty photography by our own webmaster and Fotosail.com.

Sunday was a similarly blustery affair with some unexpected lulls in the breeze, the forecast never really coming to fruition.

Even with the holes in the breeze, overnight leaders Noel Butler, from Dun Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club, and his crew Shane MacCarthy, from Greystones Sailing Club, kept their form and took the event with a race to spare.

Notable performances included that of HYC's Diana Kissane and her crew Conor Kinsella who took the Silver Fleet prize.

The Fireball Class was supported by the GB 470 coach, Adam Bowers, who ran a training clinic on Friday and monitored progress throughout the event.

Each day was topped off by a video and critique of the runners and riders, their good and bad moves exposed on large screen for all to see.

Howth Yacht Club's recent investment in a new slipway and extended hardstanding drew much praise from the Fireball Class who are already planning to return in the very near future.
