Howth Yacht Club annually hosts an evening for invited guests to celebrate the achievements of its members during the past year. This year's event took place on Wednesday 2nd December.

Commodore Peter McKenna and the Flag Officers congratulated all the nominees for the 2009 Awards, 4 were short listed for the Senior Award and 3 for the Junior Award.

Achiever of the Year Award (Senior)
 
The Crew of the SB3, Sharkbait, Ben Duncan, Brian Moran & Richard Morris
won the Senior Achiever of the Year Award.
(Brian Moran could not attend)

The award to Ben Duncan was in recognition of his achievement in the 'All Ireland Sailing Championships' and to himself and the crew for their achievements in their SB3, Sharkbait:

3rd in the National Championships in Crosshaven
2nd in the Midland Championships
2nd in the Eastern Championships
Winner of the Northern Championships
Winner of the RAYC Baily Bowl
Winner of the Dun Laoghaire Volvo Regatta

Ben also ranks 1st in the SB3 National rankings.

Achiever of the Year Award (Junior)
 
Mark Condy won the Junior Achiever Award.

In the Laser 4.7, Mark achieved the following:

22nd in the Under 16 Silver Youth European Championships in Finland
37th in the Europe Cup in Italy
17th in the Under 16 in Germany
5th in the Laser 4.7 Nationals

Kevin Darmody presented the 'Seaward Bell Trophy' to the Junior Organiser, Chris Howard
as Mark Condy is at present in Imperia, Italy for the qualifiers for
the Youth Olympics to be held in Singapore next year. First seven will qualify.
