The Puppeteer National Championships 2006 ran over Friday, Saturday and Sunday 21st - 23rd July. It was a great success and hotly contested with an entry of 21 boats.

Only one race was lost to foggy weather on the Saturday morning. What resulted was a very tightly fought battle with 3 boats in contention on the last day for the overall title and the 5th and final race determined the new championship boat.

Congratulations to Harlequin, her skipper Dave Clarke and crew who fought bravely to fend off the challenge from Andy Sargent & crew in Mayfly and Garret May & crew on Ibis. Congratulations also to Cyprian Feeley and the crew of Cloud 9 who took the Handicap honours.

With a weekend of spectacular sunshine and varied wind conditions, John Deane captured many photos of what was surely one of the Puppeteers finest weekends.

It was a pleasure to see on the water for the first time in Howth Schiggy the very first Puppeteer 22 ever built with new owner Gerry Kennedy.

The fleet now look forward to the annual Liffey Challenge which takes place on August 12th& 13th.
