Howth Yacht Club annually hosts an evening to celebrate the achievements of its members during the past year.

Commodore Roger Cagney opened the meeting with the following comments ....

This evening is one of the highlights of my duties as Commodore as it is placing on record the HYC sailors who achieved a considerable success during the 2011 season.

More importantly, the nominations for the achievers came from their own peers, colleagues and competitors.

As it is an achievers night may I initiate with the excellent news that one of our members, David Burrows, has - with Peter O'Leary - qualified for the Olympics at Weymouth in 2012.

To all our achievers as nominated, may I offer on behalf of HYC congratulations to each and every nominee.

These nominees do us all proud and set our Yacht Club on the National and International stage as a sailing centre of excellence.

I would like to thank Harry Gallagher, Hon. Sailing Secretary and Brian Turvey, Rear-Commodore for organising this event and everyone else who helped with this evening.
