Current Survey is to be carried out in Dublin Bay

A Current Survey is to be carried out in Dublin Bay to help calibrate the hydraulic model of the bay.

This will necessitate two Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP) being placed on the sea bed. The size of the ADCP unit with a frame will be approx. 1m x 1m x 1m. The two locations are marked on the reference map. Site 1 and Site 3 will be used, there is no site 2.

In relation to any racing/sailing activities Site 3 is closer to racing markers around Dun Laoghaire. Site 3 will be marked with temporary laid light buoy to alert any shipping traffic to/from Dublin Port, Dun Laoghaire Harbour and deep sea anchorage in Dublin Bay. A picture of this may be available later and will be published on the ISA website.

The ADCPs will remain on the sea bed for 30 days starting sometime in April. Once the exact date has been determined a Notice to Mariners will be issued.

All sailing boats and power boats should avoid passing close to the buoys (20 meter radius). They may not to be used for racing or mooring.
