The 420 Leinster Championships were held at the new Malahide Yacht Club on the 24th-25th March. A fleet of 13 boats gathered to do battle in the light to moderate wind conditions. HYC was represented by Robert Dickson and Sean Waddilove who won the overall title in a dramatic last race.

Under the stewardship of PRO Neil Murphy the 6 race schedule was completed. The racing was excellent and particularly close between the top 3 crews. Indeed, the event came right down to the last race to decide the winner. 3 boats were in contention; however, the HYC crew secured a second place to take the overall prize.

It has been a busy 4 weeks for the duo who are also seeking to gain the nomination for the 420 ISAF Youth World Championships in Dun Laoghaire this July.

A 15th at the UK Winter Championships at Grafham Waters and a 12th at the UK Spring Championships in Weymouth has put them well on track as this has qualified them under the international requirements that they must meet.

Next up will be the Mitsubishi Youth Nationals over Easter in Dun Laoghaire which is the final part of the nomination process.

Best of luck guys.
