Alex O’Grady returning to shore after he had secured his place on the Europeans Team

An exciting weekend in Crosshaven on 4th & 5th May has seen all 16 races of the Trials series completed, with the overall victory going to Johnny Durcan of RCYC. His twin brother Harry, Megan Parker and Alix Buckley (SSC) and James McCann (RCYC) complete the Optimist World Championships Team to compete in Lake Garda in July.

Alex O'Grady was first of the HYC competitors, finishing in 10th position and securing a place on the Europeans Team, to be sailed on Lake Balaton in Hungary in late June.

Jamie O'Grady was next of the HYC contingent in 15th place, earning himself a place on the Development squad and a trip to the French Nationals in Brittany in July.

Jamie McMahon secured a place on the U12 Development Squad, and they will travel to compete in the UK Nationals in Scotland later this Summer.

Well done to all of the HYC sailors who made it to the trials.
