See launch of new Howth 17 and the Heineken Cup Final in the Club on Saturday 23rd May ...

At 1600hrs next Saturday afternoon, the newest addition to the Howth 17 Footer Class - 'Sheila' - will be launched by Shelagh Wilkinson, after whom the boat is being named - at a ceremony being held on the recently enlarged boatpark attended by the Minister for Communications, Energy & Natural Resources Eamon Ryan TD.

The project to build the new Seventeen, which began in Wicklow some years ago, was completed in Belmont Mill in County Offaly by Dougal McMahon, a master builder renowned for his work on Shannon One Designs.

This special occasion has been deliberately timed to coincide with the Heineken Cup Final between Leinster and Leicester starting at 1700hrs, so members can witness two big events in the space of a couple of hours at a single location! An extra large screen will be used in the Clubhouse to broadcast the rugby showpiece after the launch.

All Club Members are invited to attend the Official Launching Ceremony at 1600hrs next Saturday and then enjoy the social side of rugby later.
