Vincent Gaffney and crew of the Albin Express, Alliance, Garrett May, Noel Davidson, Suzanne Carroll & Aideen O'Kelly travelled to Clifden Co. Galway to again compete in the West Coast Championships organised by WIORA (West Of Ireland Offshore Racing Association).
The event was to be held over 4 days but strong winds of 30 - 40 knots made life very difficult for the Race Officer, Alan Crosbie and the first 2 days were abandoned.

5 races were held over the remaining 2 days and with 4 x 1st places and 1 x 2nd place, "Alliance" not only won Class 3 but also claimed the overall prize in the Atlantic waters of Clifden Bay. This is the first time that a Dublin boat has won the title.

Over 60 boats entered the event but the bad weather reduced this number to 44 boats on the water. Clifden Boat Club ran a suberbly organised event under very difficult weather conditions and as a result won the honour to host the event again in 2008.

No doubt, Vincent is already making plans to return in 2008 and defend the title.
