The Travellers Trophy Results above shows each event's attendance by boat and by club. It also shows average attendances.

The numbers qualifying for the trophy were a little lower than we might have expected but circumstances have changed for many people (Lack of free time, missing crew, finances, etc.).

As you may remember, the qualifying events included mandatory attendance at the Irish Champs and results from any two of the following: Baily Bowl, Noth of Ireland Champs, South Coasts, East Coasts, with the Irish Champs being the tie-breaker.

Travellers' Trophy

Hearty congratulations should go to Peter Wallace from RNIYC in 'Toy for the Boys'. Peter has been a fantastic ambassador for the Irish Squib fleet over the last few years, with travels far and wide, from Cowes to Kinsale, Lowestoft to Abersoch. His ever-patient wife has allowed such galavanting only on the proviso that Coldplay tickets are forthcoming....albeit to concerts in Barcelona and the likes! Who says Squib sailing is economical.

In 2010, we will change the criteria to suit the busy season. Obviously, the Irish and National Championships should be included but perhaps a few other options such local regattas in Glandore, Arklow or Wexford might count. Encouraging new additions as well as those who already enjoy travelling is what we would like.

Please feel free to post the results sheet on your club website and send to all your boats. With 58 boats competing in Regional events with an average turn-out of 20 keelboats, we have everything to brag about. Remember, many dinghy fleets don't get this!

Here's to a bit of nice weather for the end of the season.
