Soufriere Wins Class 1 British Classic Yacht Club Regatta 2010

Congratulations to Stephen O'Flaherty and his crew on Soufriere who won Class 1, at the British Classic Yacht Club Panerai Cowes Regatta 2010, 17th - 24th July.

Stephen O'Flaherty and his team sailed an excellent regatta to win Class 1, the Modern Classic Yacht Fleet which consisted of a modern 12 metre, Spirit yachts and one design boats.

The BCYC Regatta is a classic boat regatta held in Cowes annually and was well attended with over 50 classic boats competing. Stephen O'Flaherty's Soufriere is a Spirit 54, a modern classic boat, built in 2005.

Soufriere
Soufriere achieved lasting fame when she was chosen as the 'Yacht of Choice' for James Bond in the film Casino Royale. She competed in the Lambay race earlier this season and after spending the rest of this summer in Sneen Harbour, Co. Kerry, will hopefully be back in HYC racing in the Autumn League.

Congratulations to the entire crew which consisted of Stephen O'Flaherty (skipper and owner), Stephen Quinn (mainsheet), Anthony Shanks (tactician), Emma McDonald (trim), Peter Kingston (trim), Laura Dillon (trim), Sinead Harte (pitt), Joe Turner (mast) and David Cagney (bow).
