Eleven HYC Laser sailors traveled to Wexford Harbour Boat & Tennis Club for the Connaught Championships. Four races were sailed with three on Saturday and only one on Sunday.

In the Laser 4.7's, Andrew Tyrrell who has just transferred from the Optimist fleet sailed very impressively to take second place to Jordan Hunt of KYC. Alan Ruigrok was fourth with Gillian Condy in fifth spot and taking first girl prize. Katie Malcolm was eighth overall and second girl. Harry O'Reilly and Luke Malcolm sailed well and are working their way up the fleet.

In the Radial Fleet, Aidan McLaverty of Kinsale won the event by a point, pipping Alistair Kissane of HYC in second, who was recovering from the rigours of the Leaving Cert. which finished on Friday. Ronan Cull was sixth with Ross Darmody showing promise after his move up from the 4.7 fleet.

In the Standard rig, the winner was Ross Harvey from Hayling with HYC represented by Brian Jackson and Michael Delaney. The conditions did not really suit Brian Jackson who really only performs at his best in windspeeds in excess of 35 knots!
