The Mitsubishi Youth Championships were held at the weekend in Dun Laoghaire under the joint auspices of the Royal St. George and National Yacht Clubs.

There was no racing on Saturday for the 420's and Lasers outside the harbour due to high wind speeds but they had four races in perfect racing conditions on Sunday making for some close and exciting competition.

The Optimists and Fevas got racing on Saturday inside the harbour and in Scotsman's Bay on Sunday.

HYC sailors figured prominently in all these fleets with the final results in the 420's and Lasers only being decided in the last race.

420
Diana Kissane & Hazel O'Neill were 2nd overall recording one win and three seconds in the process. Scott Flanigan and Luke Malcolm also sailed consistently to finish in 3rd.

Laser
Alan Ruigrok won the Radial class with three bullets. Alan, in his transition year, has been going to school and training in France. His trip home for the weekend was well rewarded with the victory in this highly competitive class.

In the 4.7 rig, HYC sailors again figured strongly with Mark Condy finishing 2nd and Oliver Keenan in 3rd, both taking line honours in the process.

Feva
Ryan and Kerrie O'Leary were 4th sailing very well on both days.

Optimists
Craig Campbell finished 3rd sailing very consistently over the six races. Robert Ferris finished 6th with one race win and Cillian McGreer 9th with two wins in the stronger winds on Saturday.
