I have been asked to head up non-spinnaker sailing on Saturdays for the coming year.
This will be open to ALL cruisers racing without spinnakers, not just the Wednesday White Sail Class.
Saturday sailing will consist of 16 races with 5 starred so that all regattas can be completed (at a very reasonable entry of 20 euro payable online @ hyc.ie or in the club office) for the season.
Every Saturday from 5th May to 1st September.
The start is at the very respectable time of 14.10 and the races will be planned to last about 2 hours.
Starting from the East Pier means that you can be out on the starting line in minutes.
This is a great way to train up new crew or to introduce friends or family to sailing and also get another day out in your boat. It is usually a fairly laid back affair.
We will also provide a BBQ every Saturday where competitors can invite their friends and family to avail of the club and its facilities (children more than welcome).
I would really hope that as many boats as possible (racers and cruising folk alike) will enter, as you will not only benefit from good club racing and craic but you will also be helping the club.
Any ideas to make this a success would be more than welcome.
Many thanks,
Dermot Skehan
