Howth Yacht Club's Ben Duncan, Brian Moran and Ric Morris wrapped up a hugely successful season by adding last weekend's Irish National SB3 Championship title to three regional championship victories already secured earlier in the year.
In a fleet of 39 boats at the Royal Irish YC, the crew of 'Sharkbait' had just one point to spare over their major rival, Peter Kennedy and crew from Royal North of Ireland YC, after six races.
But for a 3rd place at the Southern Championship (won by Kennedy), the Howth trio would have had a clean-sweep of all SB3 titles this season, having won the Easterns on home waters, the Northerns at Royal Ulster YC and the Westerns at Galway Bay SC.
Next best of the HYC entries at the Nationals was 'Shockwave' (Michael Evans/Eoin Quinlan/Peter Freyne) in 10th overall, two places ahead of 'Dinghy Supplies' (Daragh Sheridan/Shane Murphy/John Phelan).
