Promoted under the heading "Come Boating" the Club played host to visitors on Sunday 5th May between 12 noon and 5 pm. The concept originated as part of the Irish Sailing Association's Nationwide "Sail Spree" to allow people an opportunity to try various water sports.

With support from a total of 22 boats including yachts, motorboats, ribs and the 2 very popular "Skud" class boats, designed specifically for disabled sailors, 183 visitors were taken afloat.

The whole day was very efficiently executed by club volunteers. The volunteers were divided into teams with responsibilities for, welcoming, registering, lifejackets and boat allocation, boat embarking and disembarking, skippering, club tours and bar-b-cue engineers. With the exception of little hiccups, behind the scenes, the overall result was a tremendous success.

The objective of the day was to attract new members and this was achieved when a number of people signed up to join the club on the day while others have been seeking further information post the event.

Congratulations to all concerned, including those who provided goodies, and for fear of leaving somebody out we are not mentioning names. Just give yourselves a pat on the back and take a well-deserved bow.
