| The event was to be held over 4 days but strong winds of 30 - 40 knots made life very difficult for the Race Officer, Alan Crosbie and the first 2 days were abandoned. 5 races were held over the remaining 2 days and with 4 x 1st places and 1 x 2nd place, "Alliance" not only won Class 3 but also claimed the overall prize in the Atlantic waters of Clifden Bay. This is the first time that a Dublin boat has won the title. Over 60 boats entered the event but the bad weather reduced this number to 44 boats on the water. Clifden Boat Club ran a suberbly organised event under very difficult weather conditions and as a result won the honour to host the event again in 2008. No doubt, Vincent is already making plans to return in 2008 and defend the title. |
