The Variety Club of Ireland hosted a 'thank you' evening for the boat owners, skippers, crew and helpers that took part in the recent 'National Boat for Hope' at Howth.
The event offered 100 Special Needs children as well as their families a chance to enjoy a trip on the water with many boats from HYC and was a huge success following a remarkable turnout of members to help run the event.
In appreciation of the participation of so many volunteers and boats from Howth, Malahide and Dun Laoghaire, Kevin Wall, Chief Barker of the Variety Club of Ireland, presented plaques to the club and the to the boat owners as well as to Pat Murphy and Brian Turvey who were responsible for co-ordinating the 'marine' part of the event.
The Variety Club is a charity that raises funds for sick, disabled and disadvantaged children all around the world and their Irish branch was formed in 1954.
