In preparation for the ISAF Youth World Championships in July, Robert Dickson and Seán Waddilove raced their International 420 at Kiel Week from 27th to 30th June 2013. They sailed eleven races over four days in very windy conditions (over 15 knots every day).
Solid performances with two 3rd places, a 4th and two 10th places put them in 15th position after the second day, out of a fleet of 178 boats! This superb performance meant they then raced the next two days in the Gold fleet and finished 28th overall despite a capsize and equipment failure.
They travel to Cyprus on Friday 12th July 2013 to represent Ireland in the 420 class in the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship. The racing starts on Monday 15th July 2013 and runs for the week. There are 32 countries competing in the boys 420 event.
You can follow the event on www.isafyouthworlds.com.
Best of luck to Robert and Seán at the upcoming ISAF championships.
