J80s in action

Howth Yacht Club are pleased to announce the inaugural Club Championships which are due to take place on Sunday the 19th July.

This event is open to all classes currently sailing in HYC (Class 1, 2, 3, White Sails, SB3, Etchell, Puppeteer, Howth 17's, Squibs, Lasers, 470's, RS, Feva, Dinghys, Cruising Group, Etc)

Each Class can nominate ONE helm. How this is decided is completely up to the individual classes to decide. Each helm must nominate Three crew members.

Closing date for nominations is Friday 10th July at 2200.

The event will be sailed in the ISA Sailfleet J80's. This is a four man keelboat and like the ISA Helmsmans championship this will be a non spinnaker event. The J80 has a large main and furling jib, is easy to sail and handle and a fantastic boat for events like this.

Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions will be issued shortly but in the mean time the format is similar to the ISA Helmsmans championship.

There are 8 Sailfleet J80's.
Boats are swapped/rotated between crews throughout the day in the interest of fair competition.
On the morning of the event there will be a series of heats.
Depending on results from these heats - 8 helms will progress to contest the final.
The final will be sailed in the afternoon to find the overall winner.
A Perpetual Trophy will be presented to the Winner.

Interested parties should contact their class captain immediately and seek their class nomination.

Good Luck to all.
