Eileen O'Neill , HYC's Office Manager, has retired after nearly 24 years with the Club. Eileen had previously worked with a firm of architects and quantity surveyors and was new to sailing. She quickly took to sailing, crewing in Folkboats for a number of years and has taken up cruising in recent years.

At a reception in her honour on Friday 9th October she received presentations from Commodore Peter McKenna on behalf of the Club and from Rupert Jeffares on behalf of the staff.

In thanking the Commodore, the members and staff she recalled how she joined the Club on a cold wet January day in 1986 in the old clubhouse on the West Pier where the late Brendan Cassidy, then Club Hon Secretary and John Bennett, Bar Manager, were her mentors, little realising that she would stay for nearly a quarter of a centuary.

She described how she enjoyed her years in HYC and the staff she worked with and valued the friendships she had made among members and staff. She wished the Commodore, Committee and Club continuing success in the years ahead and wished Rupert "all the best" in his forthcoming retirement and Nic Parton success in his new role as General Manager.
