Howth Yacht Club annually hosts an evening to celebrate the achievements of its members during the past year. This year's event was rescheduled from December 2010 to January 2011 due to the adverse weather in December.

Commodore Roger Cagney addressed the gathering and commented ....

Our HYC Achievement Awards earns a very special place in our end of year calendar as it is a measure of the club's recognition of the members' achievents. It is also a recognition of the unselfish contributions members make to running this great club and allows us to bind the ethos, vision and sailing of HYC together.

This year we opened the nomination process to all members. The Sailing Committee then put a shortlist together from the many deserving nominations for the Junior Award (the Seaward Bell) and the Overall Award (the Silver Fox Trophy).

The Flag Officers then undertook the difficult task of selecting the winners, bringing their 'combined wisdom' to the task.

Kevin Darmody presented the Junior Achiever award, the Seaward Bell, to Scott Flanigan and Marie Kelly presented the Overall Achiever award, the Silver Fox Trophy, to Laura Dillon.
