| Rose Michael, a member of HYC, has been shortlisted for an InVOLved award. The award is presented by Volunteering Ireland. The RNLI have nominated Rose for her fantastic work raising funds for the Lifeboats. As Chairperson of the Malahide Fundraising Committee since 1999, Rose co-ordinates a series of very successful events throughout the year which raise valuable funds for the work of the RNLI in Ireland, and which raise an awareness of sea safety in local communities in North Dublin. Rose ensures that the branch makes the best use of local volunteers, encouraging long-serving volunteers around her to establish new events, and to co-ordinate existing events, as well as drawing in a wide range of new volunteers. |

Her vision and innovation, and proven success in local fundraising activities, make her knowledge and experience invaluable to the RNLI and she is enthusiastic about sharing ideas with other fundraising teams around the country.
Rose's model for the planning and running of Flag Days is currently being rolled out across RNLI branches in Ireland. Rose's enthusiasm for youth involvement in the Branch is invaluable and her innovation has paid dividends in this regard. She has been prominent in introducing the RNLI Education programme into the Howth and Malahide areas, recruiting educators to support the programme and to bring it into local primary and secondary schools. A volunteer with the commitment and ability to motivate people, which Rose demonstrates each and every year is therefore invaluable to the RNLI. Volunteering Ireland honour ten individuals with this award and the winner will be sent to the European Parliament on December 5th, International Volunteer Day. Best of Luck to Rose! |
