The Adult Sail Training course finished on Thursday 15th June after three weeks of ideal conditions and the course was oversubscribed as expected with 27 people taking part.
The programme is dependent on boat owners giving their time to take novices out sailing and thanks go to the various owners in Classes 1, 2, 3, Puppeteers & the Cruising Group who turned up to support this introduction to sailing & HYC.
The boats were organised each evening by the respective class captains and I would like to thank them for arranging
this - although we seem to depend on the same people each year.
For owners who didn't get a chance to volunteer their time please note that due to unprecedented demand, we will run a second course in August. (This course is now fully booked - 20th June)
It is great to see that a number of owners have already recruited crew from the course with participants seen sailing in the Lambay race last weekend and also now in club racing.
Any owners looking for new crew should consider making themselves available for the August course to snap up the most promising trainees!
