Laser Munsters
The Laser Munsters held in Baltimore at Easter had a good HYC presence in all 3 fleets. Patrick Dix, Ross Darmody, Andrew Ryan and Jamie Carton finished in a bunch from 12th in the 4.7 fleet. Alister Kissane was 4th Junior in the Radials. Ciara Peelo was first lady in the Radials. Dave Quinn was best Howth sailor in the standard fleet ahead of Darach Dineen, Dave Mulligan, Brian Jackson & Jonathan Hartshorn.

Laser Ulsters
The Laser Ulsters were held at Lough Erne Yacht Club mid-May. Brian Jackson was our lone representative in the Standard finishing 20th. Alister Kissane improved on the Munsters with a 12th overall in the Radials. As the championships were held during exam time many of the usuals were not there in the 4.7 fleet. Newcomer Alan Ruigrok arrived with a bang in race 5 to finish 6th one place ahead of Jamie Carton. Marc Geraghty put in a comeback appearance and was placed 10th.

Laser Connaughts
At the Laser Connaughts, Ciara Peelo was first lady & second overall in the Radials, held at Galway Bay SC. Due to a clash of dates with the Worlds, entries in the 4.7 fleet were down. Newcomer to the class, Scott Flanigan had his first championship race win and was placed 6th, one ahead of Alan Ruigrok.

Laser Leinsters & Youth Nationals
The Laser Leinster Championships incorporating the Junior National championships were held at the National Yacht Club on 29/30 July. In testing conditions over both days with windspeeds reaching up to 33kts, Howth sailors featured prominently in all three classes. In the Standard Rig Masters, Paul Derham took second place and Brian Jackson third in the Leinster Championships. In the Radial Class, Alistair Kissane won the Junior National Championships. Howth was well respresented in the 4.7 Class with Ross Darmody finishing 5th while in the Ladies 4.7 division, Claire Murphy was 4th and Katie Malcolm 6th.

National Championships
The main event of the year is the National Championships, which will take place in Ballyholme over four days from 24th to 27th August. A large contingent from HYC is expected to compete.
